After well over 50 years of collective service, the Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer, and Club Secretary at the Balsall Hornets football club are stepping down and we’re looking for volunteers to join the committee to help with various aspects of running the club. Steve, Andy, James and Mimi have been instrumental in getting the club to the fantastic position that it is in today, including overseeing the building of the clubhouse. Over the years they have taken on all aspects of running the club and players and parents, past and present, are hugely grateful for the amount of their time they have volunteered. Now that their kids are older and no longer playing for our junior teams, it’s time for other people to get involved.
There’s plenty of opportunities from once a year help with key events like the Beer Festival, to ongoing support with the admin and management of the club, as well as support for all our volunteer managers who run our 27 teams! The roles have been divided up into manageable chunks and the more volunteers we have, the more we can share out the work.
Could you help by organising the club AGM, committee meetings, and our communication with the Leagues our teams play in? Maybe you’d prefer to take clubhouse bookings, manage the bar and kitchen, coordinate pitch allocations and line marking, or perhaps support the long term development of the club? Whatever your interests, we’d love to hear from you.
Here’s some more details of the kind of things you might like to get involved with. BBFC Roles February 2024.docx
It’s thanks to a team of volunteers that we can continue to offer opportunities to play football to over 200 local kids from ages 4 to 18 as well as three adult teams, and host the walking football for the University of the 3rd Age. With your help we can do even more. The club was formed in 1949 so this year is the 75th anniversary.
Please get in touch if you can help out. There will be a meeting on 5th March for volunteers, but it’s not a problem if you can’t make that date. Email info@balsallhornets.co.uk for more details of roles.
